FOCUS through FUN, Inc. is Long Island's First and Only Certified Play Attention Learning Center. Devoted to improving attention, cognitive processing, & executive functioning using neurofeedback and computer-based, fun activities which increase skills and confidence in learning.

We teach kids Skills and give them Tools to increase and improve:

So they can increase their ability to function more efficiently & effectively in school, at home and everywhere else.

Play Attention is the main component of FOCUS through FUN, Inc. It is an Interactive Learning Tool intended to assist children & adults in developing and understanding his/her potential in controlling attention and behavior.

How Play Attention Works
In Play Attention, the user wears a bicycle helmet that is lined with 3 sensors that monitor the user's brain waves associated with a focused attentive state and clear cognitive processing. While wearing the helmet and assisted by a Certified Play Attention Coach, the user plays fun game-like computer video exercises with the goal of increasing:

  • Attention Stamina
  • Visual Tracking
  • Time on Task
  • Short-term Memory Sequencing
  • Discriminatory Auditory and Visual Processing

The User Controls the Computer Video Exercises by Mind Alone!
Only by maintaining an attentive state can the user move & control the screen characters.  Using Play Attention is often the first time a person has ever seen his attentive state in real-time. That's because while playing these specially adapted games the helmet sensors measure levels of attention and transmit this information back to the special software in the games. This software allows the games to provide immediate feedback about attention levels.

Over time, the user learns how it feels to focus and develops the skills that can help him or her concentrate and become a successful learner. Feedback is given to the user by the images on the screen and tones.

The primary levels teach the user how to use Play Attention to pay better attention. The user is taught not only to pay attention to the computer, but with the assistance of the Play Attention Coach, becomes more aware of physical actions and brain states which are most conducive to attention. Initial sessions are conducted one-on-one in non-distracting settings.

As attention improves, group sessions are conducted in increasingly distracting settings. It is even possible for sessions to be conducted in home and school settings to increase the probability that the user will achieve real and meaningful improvements.

After 40 to 60 hours of practice, 2 to 3 sessions weekly, permanent changes in focus and concentration are likely.  

Appropriate candidates for Play Attention include anyone interested in improving attention. Candidates should be at least 7 years old and have an IQ above 70. Adults are likely to improve their attention and concentration skills using this program.
